Triple Anniversary Quilt
In 2009, The Quilters Hall of Fame will celebrate Marie Webster’s 150th birthday; the 30th anniversary of The QHF’s
founding; and the 5th anniversary of the opening of the restored Marie Webster House as the headquarters of The
Quilters Hall of Fame. Plans are already underway to celebrate these milestones!
One of the special events being organized by QHF Honoree Georgia Bonesteel is a celebratory Anniversary Signature
Quilt made from fabric scraps from her own workroom. This quilt will represent a major fund raising effort to help keep
The QHF open. Check out Georgia Bonesteel’s “When Our Grandmothers Were Young - The Treadle Challenge” on
Thursday at 10am and 2pm; Friday at 2pm; and again Saturday at 3pm. This is your opportunity to buy a completed
Signature Quilt Block onsite and construct one on a Treadle Sewing Machine with Georgia Bonesteel working on her
Bernina. Come have fun with Georgia and experience first-hand how our grandmothers and great grandmothers
managed sewing on a Treadle Sewing Machine!
The completed quilt will be auctioned off during Celebration 2009 as we celebrate Marie Webster’s 150th birthday and
The QHF’s 5th anniversary in Marie’s restored home. Honoree signatures will be included in the finished quilt! What an
opportunity to participate in quilting history! (We hope to make it possible for mailed-in bids, so stay tuned by
checking our website as we get this ball rolling!)
Quilters from far and near are encouraged to participate in this Anniversary Signature Quilt Fund Raiser by donating at
least $10 per block*. (A donation of $50 is suggested for Quilt Guilds or groups.) Completed blocks ready for signing
will be available beginning July 2007 and will be sent to you upon receipt of your donation. Instructions for signing
and returning the block to The QHF will be sent to you when we mail you the completed quilt block. If you would like
to have your friends or family members participate also, you may purchase multiple blocks and send them to your
